Thought I am going to give up, but I found my way to tear apart my insecurities. The reward of an incredible view just tricked my mind, the adrenal rush to go more up prepared me for the second-day destination Kedarkantha base camp.

It’s the second day morning, we will be heading to Kedarkantha base camp which is 3km from Juda Ka lake. “Gharm Pani,… Gharm Pani..”, This voice woke me up in the morning. Didn’t mind about the view, I rushed to fill my bottle and also to check about the morning breakfast, if it is ready or not. Then the moment, I turned to my tent, Ufff,…I was stunned for a second, the scene in front of my eyes blinded me.

Sunbeams between the trees and waking up the frozen lake with a glorious morning greeting. How beautiful it is, to be huddled in the snow’s warmth! The cold breeze and the chillness fascinated everyone with the charming white beauty.

Snow-wings

Now, we have got plenty of fresh snow to play with, till the breakfast gets ready. Snowballs, Snow Wings, Snowman,.. can’t get bored of still. After the yummy breakfast, getting ready for the next destination. The first-day trek was very hard with a steep path, so can’t expect the second-day trek will be any easier. And our trek friends as well mentioning that it gonna be very harder and colder. Whatever the story, I am already tied in this snow’s magic which pulling me towards the peak.

We started to trek, favorably it wasn’t like the first day where we people climbing with a big group in parallel. Moved ahead very slowly, carefully in a line one followed by one in the ice-filled slippery path. We reached our destination after two hours of trekking. The view from the Kedarkantha base camp revealing all the beautiful mountain ranges and the adventurous Kedarkantha peak.

Kedarkantha Base Camp

Here I should mention how happy I was when I finished the second-day trek and didn’t give up at any moment.

This moment lifts you in the air and fills you with unlimited positive energy. Importantly, makes you feel strong and there is nothing competitive than winning yourself.

Yay, the second-day trek ended full of a positive vibe, beautiful sceneries, and a lot of funs. Moreover, we settled in a good tent to rest properly because the next day going to be a little harder though we going to push it to sunrise in the Kedarkantha peak. So trek guides telling everyone to sleep early after dinner. But still, people enjoyed playing songs, dancing till late at night. Unfortunately, I wasn’t part of it though still, I haven’t recovered fully and needed rest. So that I can make it up at 2'o clock the next day morning.

The loud wind sound from the tent didn’t let me sleep but somehow I slept at least for 1 hour. But I didn’t know that wind waking me up for wonderful snowfall. I thought I am not lucky enough to see the snowfall even when people said that it may snow on the third day. But yes, It did happen. I heard people screaming that “snowfall, snowfall”,.. I thought it was in the dream. But when I heard the sound that something falling on the tent, I jumped out of my sleep bag and put my hands out. And yes it was fall. Yes,.. But it didn’t bring that much joy inside me because my health has gotten so worse. The most hurtful moment was I didn’t have much energy to get up and stand. My head bursting in the pain, weakness putting in the ground like a magnet. Then I went back to my sleeping bag and thinking of giving up and staying back in the tent. I didn’t give the second chance to trek. But at the same time guilty feeling killing me inside by rewinding the two days of hard climbing. So trying to get up and sat, opened my bag, grabbed some biscuits which gave me some strength to wear my spikes and gaiters. Somehow build the trust that will climb as much I can. The KedarKantha peak is 5 km from the base camp and also we need to climb in 3 hours to see the beautiful sunrise.

Early morning trekking to kedarkantha peak

Yes, here we trekking with the snowfall in the snow-filled path. I was peacefully climbing for 5 mins until the weakness pulling me down. But I don’t want to give up at any moment. Somehow finished 1 km, but after that health got so worse. Still, continuing the trekking though my trek guide suggested instead of going back will take a little more time. Instead, we can climb more and reach the resting camp faster which is on the way, where I will get food and a place to sit. I believed and started to move ahead in baby steps, meanwhile, the weather attacking us with heavy snowfall.

Baby steps with many breaks somehow climbed 1 km. But I couldn’t able to see any resting camp and I asked my guide. He again told it in five mins. After a long time, I asked again, the same answer 5 more mins. But I didn’t believe him this time but got to know I just need to 2.5 km to reach the peak. And I climbed already halfway. And also my guide gave me an option should I return or move ahead. Because both are same distances. I know I am in my worst condition, but I don’t want to give up. After the long struggle, we reached the resting camp. Yes, I got some food and a place to keep myself warm. Also, I was able to see the KedarKantha peak already and now nothing stops me from reaching the peak. Uff,.. I made it yay. But the snowfall turned into a snowstorm which stopped everyone from reaching the peak.
